Rhode Island Fall — Francesca’s [Guralnick] family portraits

February 13, 2012 § 5 Comments

Photos from a visit with Francesca’s family in September. All taken in Warren, Rhode Island; which was beautiful. It was my first time on the east coast, and the Fall did not disappoint, it was very beautiful. Much different from the Fall in Oregon.

Trying out digital selenium toning.

Somebody’s Grandmother — Thailand

June 27, 2011 § 2 Comments

Riding around the other day after work on a beautiful afternoon, not particularly looking for photos, but I brought my camera anyway.  I’ve seen this woman sitting before; near our house there is a small mountain, you can drive over the mountain, which is kind of a shortcut to another side of town, when you get to the other side there is a small row of little shacks [houses].  There is a young woman cooking, a man repairing motorbikes, and this woman sitting and chatting, and a lot of street dogs.  The last time I saw this woman I didn’t have my camera with me [noob].  I stopped the motorbike and chatted for a minute in Thai (until the short list of things I can say/respond to is spent) and asked her if I could take her picture, Thai people almost always say yes…  She straightened up a bit, and stared right at me.  It was cool, and I’m fairly happy with the way the photo turned out, I’ll go back.

What happens when you search through old caches of photos, I liked these photos and this shoot, I wanted to post them.

An old graduation/senior photo shoot for a friend back at Oregon State.  Because of her major, and her work, she spent a lot of time in the OSU Women’s Building so we took a lot of shots in front of it.  An important building for her, and one of the older more beautiful buildings on campus.

I miss shooting on OSU’s beautiful campus.

Old senior photo shoot from last fall (2009), it was at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.  I was feeling fall-y today, and there were some nice colors in this shoot.  Mitch just finished his senior year of high school.

This was a small, quick shoot with friend Daron and girlfriend Chessie, back in March near my old apartment in Corvallis.  It was a little field near some railroad tracks, cool train cars, and an old warehouse covered in graffiti.  One of the first real things I did with my 5D, it was pretty new then.  Some of these photos were hanging in Interzone Cafe in Corvallis for the month of April.

“Sportraits”

Okay, so here’s a bunch of old “sportraits” – so they’re called – from my Barometer days.  This stuff I really like doing.  Some are better than others. All these posts are just making up for lost time… Trying to show different things I’ve done.  More recent stuff will come soon, it’s hard to post newspaper (Bulletin) stuff right away, can’t give away stories before they run.

Some old photos of an engagement shoot I did.  Just wanted to get some new photos up.  Will be posting more photos soon, I still have a bunch of old ones from The Barometer and The News Review that I want to put up but I need to go through them.  The location is the Rose Gardens in Washington Park, Portland, Oregon.
